Conover, N.C., November 1, 2006
- Network Integrity Systems Incs. Interceptor fiber optic network
intrusion detection system has been added to the US Air Force CTAA
(Certified Tempest Approval Authority) Approved Product List for PDS
(Protected Distribution System) Alarm Systems.
According to Joseph Giovannini, Vice President of Sales
and Marketing for Network Integrity Systems, Since its invention, there
has been a strong interest in the Interceptor" system as it solves
critical deficiencies present in earlier generation PDS alarm systems
included on the USAF list.With
the addition of Interceptor" to the approved list, the US Military now
has access to the state-of-the-art solution to enhance the security,
availability and defense of LAN/WAN networks.
Developed in part with
DoD funding and designed specifically for communication network
security applications, Interceptor" is a best-in-class device which
meets the requirements for protection of secure networks against
physical intrusion as set forth in NSTISSI 7003, Protective
Distribution Systems, as well as NSTISSI 3215, Intrusion Detection
Optical Communications Systems (IDOCS). Interceptor" provides the most
cost effective and fail-safe solution for physical security of optical
networks as it is capable of monitoring both dark (inactive) fibers, as
well as active (data carrying) fibers within the cable being protected.
Older generation alarm carrier solutions rely upon
monitoring a separate sensing fiber, independent of the cable being
protected, which can be easily defeated by a clever intruder and offers
no warning when a fiber is damaged or degrading.Interceptor" is compatible with all optical fiber types and Ethernet standards, and since it is a
Layer-One device it does not create any bandwidth bottlenecks or restrictions.
