Why INTERCEPTOR™

Network Integrity Systems

Advantageous Alternative To Encryption

The cost for INTERCEPTOR to provide a single protected SIPRNET circuit is about half compared to encryption.  However, INTERCEPTOR is not just protecting the single circuit (2-fibers) like an encryptor does, but ALL of the fibers inside of the cable...with unlimited bandwidth.  So if INTERCEPTOR is protecting a 48-fiber cable providing SIPRNET access to a building, then there is a potential to have up to 24 protected circuits feeding that building.  Therefore INTERCEPTOR offers unparalleled scalability with no additional cost investment.  To provide the same level of scalability with encryptors  would cost over $240,000 (for standard speed encryptors) and would provide less than 4MB of bandwidth per connection….click here for a full case study.

As a non-COMSEC item, INTERCEPTOR can be easily purchased and deployed with no impact on unit allocations, drastically reducing the time it takes to obtain network accreditation. With plug-and-play capability, INTERCEPTOR can be rapidly added to new or existing network infrastructure - making migration from NIPRNet to SIPRNet quick and cost effective in applications such as the protection of fiber bundles used for SIPRNet tunneling.

As a purely physical layer device, INTERCEPTOR does not touch, process or verify the network data (IP or cell headers) or the National Security Information, therefore no bandwidth bottlenecks are created allowing full utilization of the network – up to 10Gbps and beyond.  INTERCEPTOR is fully compatible with all Ethernet standards.

Interceptor assures that the three tenets of information assurance are achieved: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability. INTERCEPTOR can be combined with commercial AES or Type I encryption products, for instance in applications such as tunneling SIPRNet traffic over NIPRNet networks, to not only protect the Confidentiality of information, but also to assure the Integrity and Availability of the network.
