Network Integrity Systems Wins 2024 FOSA Innovation Award

Innovation Award Winner[Hickory, NC]—December 4, 2024—Network Integrity Systems (NIS), a leader in optical sensing technologies for network security, asset protection, and enhanced physical security, is honored to receive this year’s Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA) Innovation Award.

Cary Murphy, NIS Chief Technology Officer-3The award recognizes NIS’s groundbreaking development of buried detection capabilities in its SENTINEL™ Fiber Optic Intrusion Detection System, which sets a new standard for perimeter security, particularly for small perimeters. SENTINEL™ combines affordability with advanced capabilities, offering features previously accessible only through complex and expensive Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) systems.

“With the development of SENTINEL's buried sensor detection capability, NIS is redefining the possibilities for perimeter security and intrusion detection,” said Cary Murphy, Chief Technology Officer at NIS. “Previously, detecting people or vehicles required complex and costly DFOS technologies. By combining the precision of fiber optic sensing with the simplicity and affordability of zone-based monitoring, we're making advanced detection technology accessible to a broader audience. This innovation not only enhances security for smaller perimeters but also helps bring fiber optic sensing into mainstream use—benefiting both users and the industry.”

The Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA), the nation’s premier trade association for fiber optic sensing, was founded in Washington, D.C., in 2017. As a non-profit organization, FOSA is dedicated to educating industry, government, and the public on the benefits of fiber optic sensing, particularly in securing critical facilities, enhancing public safety, and protecting the environment.

“NIS’s award-winning SENTINEL™ Gen 3 system demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and its mission to deliver cutting-edge solutions that safeguard vital infrastructure while advancing the adoption of fiber optic sensing technologies”, said Dave Cunningham, Chief Executive Officer at NIS.  “We are very proud to be recognized by FOSA with this award”.
